Staff Accountant – Full Cycle Accounting

About the role

The Staff Accountant will own a broad range of financial accounting activities, supporting month‑end close, cash management, payroll, and tax compliance. Reporting to the Controller, you will ensure accurate financial results and help drive budgeting and forecasting processes.

Key responsibilities

• Execute month‑end closing on a 4‑4‑5 weekly schedule
• Prepare and record journal entries and balance‑sheet reconciliations, including bank statements
• Supervise and review the work of junior accountants
• Finalize financial results and reconcile to HFM (consolidation system)
• Prepare annual budget schedules and monthly variance analyses with commentary
• File HST/GST, Sales & Use tax and support quarterly tax provisions
• Record intercompany transactions, reconcile balances, and ensure SOX compliance
• Assist internal and external auditors by providing data and responding to inquiries

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience (5+ years preferred, minimum 3 years in a public‑company environment)
• Full‑cycle accounting expertise, including GST returns, audits, and bank reconciliations
• Strong Excel skills (V‑lookups, pivot tables)
