About the role
The Brantford Police Service is seeking a full‑time Payroll Technician to manage and process payroll for its members. Reporting to the Supervisor of Finance and Administration, the role ensures accurate, timely payroll execution while supporting the Finance team’s cross‑training initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Manage the Service’s scheduling system (InTime) and maintain accurate employee time records.
- Process and reconcile payroll transactions, including special pay adjustments, overtime, and other elements.
- Collaborate with HR and other departments to resolve payroll or scheduling issues.
- Prepare payroll reports for management and conduct regular audits to verify data accuracy.
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll and scheduling matters in a professional manner.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required profile
- Post‑secondary degree in Business or a 3‑year Business Administration diploma.
- Minimum two years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a law‑enforcement or government environment.
- Ability to adapt to organizational change, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Required skills
- Proficiency with payroll/scheduling software (e.g., InTime).
- Strong command of Microsoft Office applications.
