About the role
The Cottage Cheese is seeking a Specialty Foods Chef to lead the creation of unique South Indian and West Indian dishes for our restaurant and banquet events. You will work in a hot kitchen environment, preparing high‑quality meals while ensuring safety and consistency.
Key responsibilities
- Estimate quantities, costs of supplies, and labour for menu items.
- Maintain accurate records of food costs, consumption, sales, and inventory.
- Develop new recipes and demonstrate new cooking techniques and equipment to staff.
- Plan menus, ensure dishes meet quality standards, and accommodate dietary restrictions.
- Supervise, train, and instruct a team of 3‑4 cooks and kitchen staff.
- Prepare and cook complete meals for regular service and special events such as banquets.
- Requisition food and kitchen supplies and manage inventory.
Required profile
- Secondary school graduation certificate.
- 3 to less than 5 years of professional kitchen experience.
- Ability to work under pressure, bend, crouch, and kneel for extended periods.
- Flexibility, organization, and reliability.
- Own transportation for commuting.
