Spare Customer Service & Crew Management Officer

About the role

The Spare Customer Service Unit supports operational continuity across Ontario Northland terminals, primarily in Englehart. You will assist with crew scheduling, customer communications, and yard inventory while ensuring accurate record‑keeping and safety compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain timely railcar event records in the RMI system, including interchanges, placements, releases, delays, holds, rejects, and arrivals/departures.
• Provide operating crews with switching requirements and mechanical repair instructions.
• Coordinate yard inventory updates, conduct occasional yard audits, and participate in continuous‑improvement reviews.
• Offer relief coverage for the Crew Management Centre, Customer Service Unit, and Terminal Support Worker at Englehart and other terminals.
• Call train crew employees for assignments, track mileage, and monitor work/rest hours.
• Advertise and award temporary and permanent crew vacancies, maintain crew calling records, and provide information via telephone, fax, and electronic formats.
• Perform janitorial duties and other related tasks as assigned.

Required profile

• Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or GED.
• 1–2 years of clerical experience.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safety standards.

Required skills

• Proficient computer skills.
• Experience using the RMI system for railcar event tracking.
