Software Engineer – Decision Management Platform

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Software Engineer to design and build the next‑generation Decision Management Platform, a real‑time system that scores and approves billions of payment transactions. The role is hands‑on, involving daily coding, prototyping, and the use of AI coding tools to accelerate delivery and improve quality.

Key responsibilities

• Write production code for services, tooling, and platform features.
• Design and implement components of large distributed systems.
• Build reusable services, libraries, and integrations.
• Transform prototypes into working software.
• Select appropriate frameworks, libraries, and tools based on quality, cost, latency, and reliability.
• Use AI coding tools as the default development approach and share best practices with the team.
• Improve platform performance, reduce cost and latency, and address technical debt and resiliency gaps.
• Collaborate with engineers, architects, and product managers across multiple services.
• Mentor peers, interview candidates, and help raise the hiring bar.

Required profile

• Proven track record of delivering features in real distributed systems at scale.
• Hands‑on experience building scalable, high‑performance platforms.
• Ability to make clear technical trade‑offs and communicate decisions.
• Comfortable working with AI‑assisted development tools.
• Strong collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams.
