Social Environment Professional

About the role

BBA is seeking a Social Environment Professional with over five years of experience to support departmental growth and deliver comprehensive social environment components for environmental studies across industrial, energy, mining and land‑use planning projects.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate BBA’s consulting services in stakeholder engagement and communication, including drafting consulting reports.
• Lead the social environment portion of environmental studies, collecting and analysing socio‑economic data through surveys, interviews and land‑use assessments.
• Identify socio‑economic challenges of projects, assess impacts on communities and propose mitigation measures.
• Develop and implement market strategies with senior leaders to expand the Environment group.
• Collaborate with other BBA departments and offices, managing project budgets, schedules and deliverables.
• Attend internal and external meetings, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met and communicating any needed renegotiations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in anthropology, sociology, geography, land‑use planning or a related field (Master’s degree is an asset).
• At least five years of experience conducting social studies or land‑use planning, preferably with First Nations and in energy, heavy industry or mining sectors.
• Strong knowledge of legislation, regulations, permit applications, environmental impact assessments and stakeholder consultation processes.
• Proven ability to analyse complex social and economic project impacts and to prepare budgets, estimates and schedules.
• Advanced English and French language skills for collaboration with Canadian and international clients.
• Willingness to undertake short‑term assignments at client sites.
