Site Safety Officer

About the role

The Site Safety Officer (also called Safety Leader) works on a Caliber construction site to ensure that all work is performed safely and in compliance with Caliber’s Occupational Health and Safety policies and WorkSafe BC regulations. Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the officer monitors safety practices, conducts audits, and leads incident response to protect workers and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to Caliber’s Health & Safety Manual and WorkSafe BC regulations.
• Maintain and update the Caliber Training matrix and employee certifications.
• File and keep current all COR certification paperwork.
• Conduct weekly site safety audits with the SSO and SS.
• Address first‑aid incidents, complete safety forms, and manage corrective actions for job‑site injuries.
• Provide follow‑up paperwork and ensure injured employees receive required treatment.
• Stay informed on OH&S advancements and maintain a network of safety professionals.
• Report safety matters to the Superintendent and Project Manager as needed.
• Authority to stop work when safety policies are not met.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years construction experience.
• Level two First‑Aid qualification.
• Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specification checklists.
