About the role
Gerdau is seeking a Licensed Mechanic for its Whitby shredder plant. The role involves performing routine and moderate‑complex maintenance on plant equipment, ensuring reliable operation in a heavy‑manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose, dismantle, repair, lubricate and reassemble equipment, including burner/torching and millwright tasks.
- Execute preventive maintenance programs, adjust machine mechanisms, and report any unusual conditions to the Maintenance Supervisor.
- Operate mobile equipment such as counter‑balance forklifts and boom‑lifts, and work safely in indoor and outdoor settings.
Required profile
- Skilled Trades Ontario or Red Seal designation (310S, 310T or 433A).
- At least one year of relevant mechanical experience, preferably in heavy manufacturing.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, good communication, and ability to work in a team.
Required skills
- Hydraulic system knowledge – fittings, hoses, seals, O‑rings.
- Operation of forklifts and aerial work platforms.
- Basic computer proficiency for maintenance reporting.
