Industrial Electrician – $46.84/hr

About the role

Gerdau is seeking a skilled Industrial Electrician to join the maintenance team in Whitby, Ontario. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will ensure reliable operation of electrical equipment across the plant.

Key responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair AC/DC motors, controls, PLCs, electrical drives, and low/medium/high voltage systems.
• Service electrical components of pumps, motors, cranes, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Execute scheduled and emergency repairs, installations, and inspections based on work orders and prints.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and equipment condition in the CMMS.
• Perform routine rounds and checks of machinery using checklists or digital tools to identify abnormalities.
• Operate material handling equipment such as cranes and tow motors, including rigging tasks.

Required profile

• Certificate of Qualification (Industrial Electrician - 442A or Construction Electrician - 309A) recognized by Skilled Trades Ontario.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and pass background, medical, and ergonomic assessments.

Required skills

• AC/DC motor and electrical drive troubleshooting.
• PLC programming and control systems.
• Low, medium, and high voltage system maintenance.
• Experience with CMMS for work order management.
• Operation of material handling equipment and basic rigging.
• Basic computer proficiency.
