Shredder Belt Picker

About the role

The Shredder Belt Picker works on the production floor of Gerdau’s Whitby facility, hand‑picking various items from the shredder belt and ensuring equipment runs smoothly. This position is essential for maintaining product quality and supporting overall plant efficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Hand pick items such as copper bearings, wire harnesses, rags, dirt, rubber, foam, etc., and place them into separate containers.
• Operate and perform routine inspections of mobile equipment.
• Monitor and report the operating condition of production equipment.
• Complete and submit equipment checklists and care documents.
• Assist with planned and unplanned maintenance tasks and plant housekeeping.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1‑3 years experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to work 8‑hour rotating afternoon and night shifts.
• Good attendance, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team.
• Physical ability to perform labour‑intensive tasks.

Required skills

• Operation of mobile equipment.
• Routine equipment inspection and reporting.
