About the role
The University of Toronto’s Faculty of Arts & Science is seeking a sessional lecturer to teach INI106H1F: Storytelling through Literary Journalism. This in‑person course runs on Thursdays from 2 pm to 5 pm and is limited to 25 first‑year students.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver all lectures and lead classroom activities for the full course.
- Design, grade, and submit all assessments and final marks.
- Hold weekly office hours and respond to student inquiries via email or appointments.
- Utilise the provided syllabus and detailed course outline while incorporating guest speakers, field trips, and writing exercises.
Required profile
- MA in journalism or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Professional background as a journalist or editor with a focus on literary journalism.
- Minimum three years of experience teaching journalism or professional writing.
- Preferred: a publication or editorial record in journalism and a demonstrated interest in pedagogy.
