Server Assistant - The Guild

About the role

A restaurant in Calgary called The Guild, run by Oliver & Bonacini, is looking for a Server Assistant. Working under the direction of the Front of House Management Team, the Server Assistant supports Servers by checking tables for mise en place, cleanliness and completeness, and helps with food running and food quality monitoring. It is a full-time position.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect all tables for proper mise en place, cleanliness and completeness
• Answer questions about food, beverages, wine and other restaurant services when needed
• Help with food running so plates go to the right guest, and monitor food quality and presentation standards
• Keep the section clean and free of clutter, and communicate with Servers and Hosts to maximize seating
• Pre-portion condiments and keep fridges stocked with milk, cream, butter and similar items
• Follow all food safety standards and systems
• Empty garbage, change linen bags and dispose of garbage and recycling
• Pass on guest comments to Servers so they can deliver a positive experience
• Other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Valid Smart Serve certification (required)
• 6 months to 1 year of previous experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment
• Weekend availability, evenings and holidays
• Legally eligible to work in Canada

• Ability to take direction and prioritize
• Strong oral communication skills
• High level of product knowledge
