SEO Specialist – Full-Time, 12-Month Maternity Leave Contract

About the role

We are seeking an experienced SEO Specialist to own organic search for two distinct brands, Future Buildings and Toro Steel Buildings. This full‑time, 12‑month maternity‑leave contract will be based on‑site in Markham, Ontario, and will involve managing and growing two WordPress sites while maintaining each brand’s unique voice.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive technical SEO audits (Core Web Vitals, crawlability, indexation, mobile performance, structured data) for both sites.
• Collaborate with developers to implement high‑impact fixes and monitor Google Search Console for coverage issues and crawl budget.
• Lead the SEO workstream of a full WordPress migration, creating and managing a 301 redirect map, preserving link equity, and ensuring proper canonical and indexing settings.
• Maintain and optimise Rank Math settings, titles, meta descriptions, schema, breadcrumbs, and focus keywords across both sites.
• Track rankings pre‑ and post‑migration, respond quickly to traffic fluctuations, and stay current with Google algorithm updates.
• Explore and develop strategies for AI‑driven search surfaces such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews.

Required profile

• Proven experience in technical SEO, on‑page optimisation and content strategy.
• Hands‑on experience with large‑scale WordPress migrations and SEO tools.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work independently across two brands.
• Curiosity about emerging AI search platforms and willingness to experiment.
