Senior Software Developer

About the role

Wenco is modernising its mission‑critical Fleet Management System and needs a senior engineer to lead the extraction of legacy C++ code into a new cloud‑native platform. The role offers rapid technical growth and ownership of a real‑time system used by mining operations worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Understand and safely refactor the existing C++ monolith, defining service boundaries and data models for extraction.
• Design and build new Kubernetes‑based microservices in Python, along with React front‑ends, while managing build, release and deployment pipelines.
• Implement observability using Grafana, Loki and related tooling, and ensure high test coverage across unit, integration, end‑to‑end and UI layers.
• Leverage AI coding assistants for code analysis, scaffolding and low‑risk refactors as a core part of the workflow.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience delivering production‑grade, high‑uptime systems.
• Strong C++ expertise with the ability to navigate and modify a large, mature codebase.
• Proficiency in at least two of the following: C++, C#, Python, React.
• Demonstrated ownership, clear technical communication and ability to work with both engineers and non‑technical stakeholders.
