Senior Procurement Consultant

About the role

The Senior Procurement Consultant will lead the development and delivery of category strategies for Vendor of Record (VOR) arrangements, supporting Ontario Public Service (OPS) ministries and broader public sector organisations. This permanent, full‑time position focuses on advancing category‑management maturity and delivering value‑driven procurement solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate high‑value categories, supply‑chain and procurement services.
• Act as the resident category manager and procurement expert for staff, management and OPS/BPS clients.
• Assess procurement requests for complexity and recommend strategic approaches.
• Simplify category strategies and procurement operations to improve client experience.
• Collaborate with senior management to provide strategic input that enhances business outcomes and Enterprise VOR Program services.

Required profile

• Strong category‑management and procurement expertise, with experience in government‑wide Enterprise VOR arrangements.
• Advanced knowledge of public and private sector procurement policies, trends and performance‑measurement tools.
• Proven ability to develop specifications, evaluation criteria and risk‑management strategies.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills to evaluate client needs and identify improvement opportunities.
• Leadership capability to guide cross‑functional teams, steering committees and partnerships with OPS/BPS and suppliers.
