Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

SORSYS Technologies Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design of automated inspection systems. This full‑time, on‑site position in Brampton, ON, focuses on concept development, detailed design, and optimization of machines and sub‑assemblies for industrial automation.

Key responsibilities

• Create and review 3D models and detailed drawings for inspection equipment.
• Perform engineering calculations, tolerance stack‑ups, and BOM creation.
• Select mechanical components and ensure manufacturability and serviceability.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams to integrate robotics and optical systems.
• Guide junior engineers and designers, supporting prototype builds and testing.
• Address design issues on the production floor and drive continuous improvement of design standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in industrial automation, robotics, or machine‑building environments, preferably with quality inspection or optical systems.
• Strong foundation in mechanical principles applied to automated machinery.
• Ability to interpret and apply relevant safety standards and work hands‑on with prototypes.
