Saw Operator - Roofing Material Fabrication

About the role

Roofmart, Canada's national distributor for exterior building supply for roofing, siding, metal and building envelope, is hiring a Saw Operator in Brampton. The operator fabricates material for roofing applications by cutting it with a sliding panel saw, interpreting shop drawings, maintaining quality and safety standards, keeping records and maintaining equipment. The role reports directly to the Production Supervisor.

Key responsibilities

• Cut insulation and other materials according to cut lists and shop drawings using a sliding panel saw, ensuring accuracy and quality
• Pull materials, pack, wrap and label pallets and place them in the staging area
• Verify quality by measuring pieces and follow quality assurance procedures
• Maintain equipment through preventative maintenance and follow maintenance guidelines
• Help complete inventory audits and keep the warehouse neat and safe
• Complete forms, reports, logs and records documenting actions
• Follow safety procedures, organization standards and the OH&S act, and comply with workplace safety regulations

Required profile

• Valid forklift license (training can be provided)
• Ability to work shifts and overtime as required, in a warehouse/manufacturing environment
• Able to lift, push and carry 80-100 lbs, stand for long periods and work in a high-paced production environment
• Comfortable working in a diverse environment and exposed to dust and noise with PPE
• Experience in construction, carpentry, trades or table saw operation is an asset
