Industrial Millwright

About the role

IG Machine & Fibers Ltd., a manufacturer of commercial and residential roofing products and part of the IKO Group of Companies, is hiring a full-time Industrial Millwright in Brampton, Ontario. The millwright reports directly to the Maintenance Superintendent and keeps production and quality running by maintaining machinery and mechanical equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Complete preventive maintenance on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems and production machines
• Locate problems by observing devices, listening and using precision measuring and testing instruments
• Dismantle devices, remove defective parts and use hoists, cranes and hand and power tools
• Inspect used parts with rules, calipers and micrometers to check dimensional requirements
• Adjust functional parts and control instruments with hand tools, levels and straightedges
• Fabricate repair parts, cut and weld metal, and assemble new equipment
• Clean, lubricate and adjust parts, equipment and machinery
• Record parts and materials used, order new ones, record repairs and maintenance, and prepare maintenance reports
• Maintain a safe, clean workplace and communicate work-team needs

Required profile

• Valid Ontario Industrial Mechanic License 433A (Red Seal C of Q)
• At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
• Able to read mechanical drawings
• Able to work shifts, including some extended hours and weekends
• Interpersonal, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds routinely, stand or walk 70-90% of a shift, and work at heights and in confined spaces

Required skills

• Full set of metric standard tools
• Experience with mechanical devices, pneumatic controls and welding/cutting
