About the role
Power to Change - Students, a non-profit ministry, is looking for a Senior Developer to lead its Strategy and Operations (S&O) team. The role reports to a senior team member and can be based remotely or in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is open to full-time, part-time, internship or commissioned/associate positions.
The Senior Developer architects, builds and maintains software systems, custom web tools, APIs and data pipelines, while mentoring other developers, data product builders and volunteers.
Key responsibilities
- Architect, build and deploy web applications, custom tools, APIs and data integrations that streamline operations
- Maintain Google Cloud Platform data infrastructure, SQL databases and metrics pipelines used by dashboards and data products
- Implement monitoring, automated testing and documentation so failures are caught quickly
- Keep an online service portal running with high user satisfaction
- Provide technical direction, code reviews and mentorship
- Take part in weekly chapel services, the bi-annual International Day of Prayer and special projects assigned by the national director
Required profile
- Degree in a related field plus 2 years of office experience, or an equivalent combination
- Experience with SQL and/or data-related projects or apps
- Cloud and data architecture experience with Google Cloud Platform or another cloud environment, databases, data warehousing and ETL pipelines
- Proficiency in Git, AI-assisted development tools and comfort working with volunteers
- A deep, growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to see lives transformed
Required skills
- General-purpose programming languages such as Python, JavaScript/TypeScript and SQL
- Modern web and API development
- Clear communication of technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders
