Senior Core Java Developer - Cash Equities

About the role

Synechron, a global consulting firm with 17,000+ people and 58 offices in 22 countries, is looking for a Java Developer for its Cash Equities Client & Market Connectivity team in Toronto. The role calls for design thinking and problem-solving skills, the ability to build scalable, low-latency architectures, and clear communication in a geographically spread, multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a strategic FIX client-facing and market-facing platform to meet business needs
• Work with product owners and business sponsors on requirements and priorities, managing expectations and communication
• Improve test and deployment automation and raise the maturity of continuous delivery
• Build an event-based, high-throughput Order Management Platform that will form the backbone of the Cash Equities future-state architecture

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering of low-latency or real-time systems
• Core Java with microservices, designing and building low-latency systems with architectures such as Zero G
• Good command of the Linux/UNIX command-line interface
• Proficiency in the FIX protocol and domain knowledge of cash equities, including low-touch (DMA, DSA) and high-touch (managed, PT) order flow
• Knowledge of DevOps tooling (Groovy, Jenkins CI/CD, logging and monitoring, troubleshooting)
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with business and IT stakeholders

Preferred, but not required

• Container runtimes (Podman, Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• Message passing systems such as Kafka and Aeron
• Data-driven optimizations through profiling and metrics collection

• Base salary in Toronto of CAD 100,000 - 110,000 per year plus benefits
