Manager, Business Technology Partnerships

About the role

STB is looking for a curious and driven person with a passion for emerging technology to lead initiatives supporting tourism innovation. The role centres on robotics and its application to tourism, especially hotels, and on an experimental track testing nascent technologies. It also involves leading the Tcube Champions programme and acting as Tcube Advisor for core tourism industries. The position suits someone who is proactive in building networks and comfortable working across strategic and operational work.

Key responsibilities

• Robotics Lead: stay at the forefront of robotics developments globally and locally, understand the policy and regulatory landscape, build networks with government agencies and research bodies, and identify gaps and barriers to robotics adoption in tourism.
• Experimental Track: define the scope of the track, secure funding and collaboration agreements with industry stakeholders, and manage pilots from conception to delivery with government partners.
• Tcube Champions: oversee a curated group of tourism industry leaders, reviewing and refreshing how STB engages with them to leverage their expertise, networks and influence.
• Tcube Advisor for Core Industry: scan the technology landscape regularly, identify key technologies and companies, and give strategic guidance to internal line units on adopting technologies that improve efficiency and visitor experience.

Required profile

• At least 2 years of experience in technology, innovation or a related field, with a strong interest in robotics and emerging technologies.
• Experience in or familiarity with the whole-of-government ecosystem, particularly technology and innovation agencies, is an advantage.
• Experience in or familiarity with the hotels industry is an advantage, given increased robotics deployment in hotels.
• Trained in technology, engineering or a related discipline.

• Project management, managing multiple workstreams across strategic and operational work.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, building relationships with industry stakeholders, government agencies and internal units.
• Strong command of written and spoken English.
