Business Analyst Intern - Voice AI Drive-Thru
Presto · Toronto
Job description
About the role
Presto, a Voice AI company for restaurant drive-thrus, is partnering with Canadian universities to place a select group of students inside restaurants where its AI system is already live. This internship sits at the intersection of technology, business and operations: you will help understand how the AI performs in real environments by analyzing interactions, spotting trends and finding ways to improve customer experience and business outcomes. The role can be on-site, remote or hybrid depending on location and business needs.
Key responsibilities
- Analyze real customer interactions and operational data, spending about 20-40 hours per week
- Listen to and review drive-thru orders handled by the AI system across multiple locations
- Monitor live AI drive-thru sessions in real time and escalate critical issues immediately
- Analyze interactions between customers, staff and the AI to find patterns, trends and anomalies in ordering behavior
- Track metrics such as Non-Intervention Rate (NIR), Automation Rate (AR), Menu Board Time (MBT) and AI Efficiency, and look for correlations between KPIs
- Build structured reports and document moments of friction, confusion and success for product and operations teams
- Track recurring issue patterns (menu mismatches, ASR errors, modifier mapping, POS injection) and route them to the right teams
- Evaluate upsell performance and customer response rates, and support menu accuracy by flagging unavailable or misconfigured items
- Act as a point of contact between Presto and restaurant partners, and make occasional on-site visits to partner locations
Required profile
- Students who are analytical and entrepreneurial, curious and proactive problem-solvers
- Strong attention to detail and ability to document insights clearly
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
- All majors are encouraged to apply; mindset matters more than specific experience
What we offer
- Hourly pay of $15-$20 CAD, varying by location, skills, experience and education
- 12-18 weeks (with potential to extend), 20-40 hours per week, flexible around class schedules
- Hands-on work on live AI systems in production, with exposure to data-driven decision making and product feedback loops
To apply, submit your resume with a short note explaining your interest in technology, business and real-world operations.
