Senior Accountant, Tax

About the role

MNP is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Tax team. You will act as a trusted advisor, delivering customized tax strategies for a diverse client base while ensuring compliance with Canadian tax regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Complete tax engagements, including personal and corporate returns, year‑end forms (T4s/T5s) and share‑capital calculations.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses.
• Evaluate existing processes, advise on policy and tax changes, and develop proactive tax strategies.
• Identify issues, investigate discrepancies, and collaborate with managers or partners on resolutions.
• Correspond with clients and government agencies on tax compliance matters.
• Prepare technical reports, client summaries and presentations outlining engagement findings.
• Lead engagement teams, mentor junior staff and maintain strong client relationships.
• Contribute ideas to improve work processes and participate in business‑development initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting/finance preferred).
• CPA designation or completion of the CFE examination with relevant practical experience.
• 3–4 years of public accounting or tax experience.
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act.
• Experience with accounting and tax software.
