Senior Accountant, Tax

About the role

MNP is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its Tax team. You will act as a trusted advisor, delivering customized tax strategies that meet compliance requirements, minimise risk, and maximise client returns within a complex regulatory environment.

Key responsibilities

• Complete tax engagements, compute taxes owed, and prepare personal and corporate tax returns, including T4s/T5s and year‑end forms.
• Set up files for new clients and newly incorporated businesses.
• Evaluate existing business processes, advise on policy and tax changes, and develop proactive tax strategies.
• Identify issues, investigate discrepancies, and collaborate with managers or partners to resolve them.
• Correspond with clients and government agencies on tax compliance matters.
• Prepare technical reports, client summaries, and presentations outlining engagement findings.
• Collaborate with engagement teams to define roles, risk areas, materiality, and deadlines.
• Lead engagement teams, coach junior members, and build effective client relationships.
• Contribute ideas to improve work processes and participate in business development initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration (accounting or finance preferred).
• CPA designation completed.
• 2–4 years of public accounting or tax experience.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of the Canadian Income Tax Act.
• Experience with accounting and tax software.
