Senior Accountant – Financial Operations Analyst (6‑month contract)

About the role

This 6‑month contract position supports the full‑cycle commission processing workflow for a financial services client operating across multiple legal entities. The role combines accounting, tax compliance, and analytical duties to ensure accurate advisor compensation.

Key responsibilities

• Calculate, review, and disburse advisor commissions, validating source data for integrity and alignment with payment schedules.
• Analyze and resolve commission variances, reconciling outstanding items and coordinating adjustments with Operations and Accounting.
• Perform account reconciliations for commissions, trust, and accounts payable, ensuring timely clearing and correct financial‑statement presentation.
• Respond to advisor queries on compensation, payment discrepancies, and transaction adjustments with professional communication.
• Investigate payment exceptions, manage sales‑tax processes (GST/HST), and maintain advisor tax profiles.
• Execute internal controls over financial operations, identify gaps, and contribute to periodic reporting and regulatory filings (e.g., T4A).
• Develop operational reporting, commission analytics, and ad‑hoc analysis to support management decisions.

Required profile

• 5+ years of day‑to‑day accounting experience, including end‑to‑end commission processing.
• Experience in finance or wealth‑management environments.
• Strong Excel abilities, including pivots and data‑management; exposure to macros is a plus.
• CPA designation is an asset but not required.
• Self‑starter with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced setting.
