Senior Accountant – External Reporting

About the role

Algonquin Power & Utilities Corp. is seeking a Senior Accountant to lead its external reporting function. The role focuses on preparing and reviewing consolidated financial statements, supporting quarterly and annual filings, and ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP and SEC requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements and accompanying notes.
• Review and consolidate cash flow statements from divisional teams.
• Assist in drafting Management’s Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) and earnings support materials.
• Produce monthly consolidated financial statements and analytical reporting packages for internal stakeholders.
• Conduct technical accounting research and maintain memorandums for complex, non‑routine transactions.
• Implement new accounting standards and assess accounting treatment for novel transactions.
• Identify and drive improvements in reporting processes and data quality.

Required profile

• Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience in U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting.
• Professional judgment and ability to work collaboratively across finance and business units.
• Proactive mindset to enhance reporting efficiency and quality.
