Senior Accountant – Construction & Property Development

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to oversee the full accounting cycle for multiple development projects within a home‑building environment. The role is office‑based in Vaughan and involves close collaboration with project teams, lenders, and external accountants.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and oversee the full accounting cycle for multiple development projects, entering data into Sage Business Vision.
• Process accounts payable and receivable, including invoice verification, coding, posting, cheque runs, and billing.
• Prepare reports for external accountants, including T5018 reporting and inter‑company reconciliations.
• Perform credit‑card, bank, and vendor payment reconciliations; manage expense reports and purchase orders.
• Support year‑end financial reporting, prepare working papers, post journal entries, and coordinate with external accountants.
• Prepare monthly financing draw requests and status reports for lenders.
• Oversee accounting for two rental properties, including rent reconciliations and payment management.
• Prepare and file GST/HST returns online.
• Produce routine financial reports for management review and respond to project monitor enquiries.

Required profile

• 5‑10 years of full‑cycle accounting experience, preferably in construction or property development.
• Demonstrated experience managing multiple development projects from start to finish.
• Strong knowledge of high‑rise development accounting is an asset.
• Excellent attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
