Second Cook – Shipboard Kitchen

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Second Cook to join the crew of the M/V Saga. The position is based on board with room and board provided, offering a unique opportunity to work in a remote maritime environment.

Key responsibilities

• Determine portion sizes and associated costs for all meals.
• Plan menus, estimate food requirements and order supplies.
• Prepare and cook complete meals, including special dishes for guests with allergies or intolerances.
• Inspect kitchen and food service areas to ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Supervise kitchen staff and helpers, maintain inventory and records, and keep the work area clean.

Required profile

• 2–3 years of professional cooking experience.
• Flexibility, strong organization, reliability and the ability to work well in a team.
• Effective time‑management skills in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.

Required skills

• Food Safety Certificate.
• First Aid Certificate.
• Menu planning and portion control.
• Inventory management.
