Restaurant Assistant Manager

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Assistant Manager to support daily operations at our family‑run restaurant in Calgary. You will work closely with the manager to ensure smooth service, financial performance, and a welcoming environment for guests.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and develop budgets to maintain profitability, covering food, alcohol, supplies and labor costs.
• Monitor daily operations, staff performance and schedule work shifts.
• Supervise, train and conduct performance reviews for a team of 3‑4 employees.
• Balance cash, prepare balance sheets, cash reports and related financial forms.
• Enforce provincial liquor legislation and health‑safety regulations.
• Maintain inventory levels and negotiate with suppliers for food and other supplies.
• Address customer complaints, provide excellent service and support marketing initiatives.
• Organise and oversee cleaning, kitchen, and front‑of‑house procedures.

• Team player with the ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
• Reliable under pressure and capable of standing for extended periods.

Required skills

• Safe Food Handling certificate.
• ProServe program certification.
• Proficiency with electronic cash registers and point‑of‑sale systems.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and the broader MS Office suite.
• Ability to create and manage spreadsheets for budgeting and inventory.
