Researcher - Graphic Rendering

About the role

Huawei Canada is seeking a Researcher focused on graphic rendering for a 12‑month contract. The position sits within the Software‑Hardware System Optimization Lab, which drives power‑efficiency and performance improvements for smartphone products through system‑level innovations.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate cutting‑edge graphics and rendering algorithms such as 3DGS and neural rendering.
• Stay abreast of developments in rendering technologies, shaders, and recent academic research.
• Explore algorithm and pipeline optimizations for mobile platforms and chipsets.
• Build prototypes and performance profiles for graphics topics across PC and mobile devices.
• Collaborate closely with internal R&D divisions.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• Research or industry experience in computer graphics or computer vision, especially real‑time rendering.
• Knowledge of neural rendering or 3DGS related areas.
• Excellent communication and documentation abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with graphics APIs such as Vulkan, OpenGL and DirectX.
• Familiarity with graphics pipelines, including ray tracing, PBR/BRDF and global illumination.
• Experience with game engines like Unreal Engine (UE) or Unity.
