Senior AI Research Engineer

About the role

Huawei Canada is seeking a Senior AI Research Engineer to join its Graphics Technology Lab in Vancouver. The role focuses on cutting‑edge AI‑driven rendering research and its integration into Huawei products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead projects, generate team ideas, and mentor junior engineers.
• Conduct advanced research on AI‑based rendering techniques such as neural rendering acceleration, neural material representation, and neural texture compression.
• Translate research outcomes into real‑world solutions for Huawei’s media and graphics products.
• Provide expert opinions by summarizing findings in high‑quality papers or patents.

Required profile

• 5+ years of industry engineering experience, with at least 3 years in computer graphics.
• MSc or Ph.D. in computer science or a related field focusing on applied machine learning to graphics or vision.
• Strong publication record in conferences or journals such as SIGGRAPH, CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, or TPAMI.

Required skills

• Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow.
• Experience with neural representation/rendering (NeRF, Gaussian Splatting, neural rendering, procedural generation, SVBRDF).
• Proficiency in shading languages like GLSL and HLSL.
• Deep‑learning techniques including DNN, GAN, ViT, and diffusion models.

What we offer

• Total compensation ranging from $121,000 to $230,000, depending on education, experience and demonstrated expertise.
