Technical Insight & Planning Researcher (AI/ML)

About the role

The Senior Technical Planning Researcher will join Huawei Canada's Computing Data Application Acceleration Lab, driving full‑stack innovations in AI/ML, software‑hardware co‑design, and next‑generation GPU architectures for gaming, cloud rendering, VR/AR, and Metaverse applications.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the latest AI/ML technology trends and academic research, producing insightful technology reports.
• Evaluate, adopt, and champion cutting‑edge AI/ML methodologies across projects.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to create strategic technical plans and lead cross‑functional teams in AI/ML project delivery.
• Identify industry pain points and long‑term requirements, fostering joint projects with university professors and industry partners.
• Spot new investment opportunities, advocate for expanding technology teams and increasing funding.
• Promote a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the AI/ML team.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven technical research and development experience in AI/ML domains.
• Experience with heterogeneous (CPU/GPU/NPU) computing, high‑performance AI architecture, Big Data, or graphic processing is a plus.
• Strong communication and presentation abilities for effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
• Adaptability to a global team and active participation in external conferences.
