About the role
The Research Associate will join the Thamboo Research Lab within the Department of Otolaryngology at UBC. Working closely with Dr. Andrew Thamboo, the role focuses on advancing the Unified Airway Hypothesis and related inflammatory respiratory disease research.
Key responsibilities
- Design, initiate, and lead independent research projects on respiratory tract diseases.
- Develop and implement clinical research protocols, including timelines, logistics, and participant management.
- Coordinate industry‑sponsored and basic‑science collaborative projects, ensuring alignment with milestones.
- Maintain and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for clinical research activities.
- Supervise, train, and provide direction to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students and research technicians.
- Communicate research progress and findings to sponsors, collaborators, and internal stakeholders.
Required profile
- Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) in a relevant biomedical or health science field.
- Demonstrated experience in clinical or translational research involving human participants.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for scientific reporting.
