Research Associate – Neurology (Parkinson’s)

About the role
The University of British Columbia is seeking a full‑time Research Associate to join the Cresswell Laboratory within the Pacific Parkinson's Research Centre. The role supports a fixed‑term leave replacement and may be extended based on performance and funding.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct independent and collaborative research projects focused on Parkinson’s disease, including lifestyle interventions, biomarker studies, and data registries.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation and grant development to secure external funding.
- Provide advice, supervision, and functional direction to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate trainees as well as laboratory staff.
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the Appel‑Cresswell lab, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
- Liaise with the Borgland Family Brain and Tissue DNA Bank and other collaborating labs at UBC and external institutions.
Required profile
- Direct reporting to Principal Investigator Dr. Silke Appel‑Cresswell.
- Experience working in a research laboratory environment and ability to supervise trainees.
- Strong communication skills for interaction with staff, trainees, and external partners.
