Research Assistant/Technician 3 – Cell & Molecular Biology

About the role

This position provides technical support in cell biology, molecular biology, and histology for various projects within the Wang laboratory’s ovarian and rare cancer research programs. The successful candidate will work under the guidance of Dr. Yemin Wang, contributing to basic and translational research aimed at improving understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of gynecologic and rare cancers.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain established 2D cell line and 3D organoid cultures, and generate cultures from primary tissue using aseptic techniques.
• Plan, perform, and troubleshoot cellular and molecular biology experiments, including western blotting, PCR, nucleic acid extraction, and cloning.
• Conduct drug assays and cell‑culture‑based drug or genetic screens.
• Execute viral‑related work such as production, isolation, and infection of viral vectors.
• Operate shared laboratory equipment, provide training to new personnel, and develop standard operating protocols.
• Maintain laboratory records, summarize results in reports or presentations, and assist with general lab maintenance and inventory.

Required profile

• Completion of a relevant technical program or university degree with at least three years of related experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Working knowledge of 2D and 3D cell culture, primary tissue culture, drug sensitivity assays, and molecular biology techniques such as cloning, western blotting, immunofluorescence, and PCR.
