Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Cell Division & Cancer Biology

About the role

The Maxwell Laboratory at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute and UBC seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to investigate cell division, epithelial organization, and immune interactions in cancer biology.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute independent research projects on epithelial cell fate, spindle orientation, or tumor initiation.
• Perform basic and translational experiments using live‑cell imaging, mouse models, or patient‑derived organoid systems.
• Analyze data, prepare manuscripts and grant proposals, and present findings at internal and external meetings.
• Mentor junior trainees and contribute to collaborative projects across multiple research programs.

Required profile

• PhD in Cell Biology, Cancer Biology, Developmental Biology, Biochemistry or related field obtained within the last 2 years.
• Strong publication record with first‑author papers in high‑impact journals.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead projects.

Required skills

• Live‑cell imaging or advanced microscopy.
• Mouse models or genetically engineered systems.
• Primary cell culture or organoid systems.
• Molecular perturbation techniques such as CRISPR or RNAi.
