Research Assistant/Technician 1 (Part‑time, 6‑month term)

About the role

The Schultz Laboratory at UBC is seeking a part‑time Research Assistant/Technician 1 to support the CAR‑NK project. This 15‑hour‑per‑week, 6‑month fixed‑term position involves routine laboratory work and technical assistance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine cell culture of NK cells, including media changes, passaging, and maintenance.
• Assist with CAR‑NK cell generation, ELISA, flow cytometry, and cell‑based assays.
• Carry out DNA/RNA isolation, human blood sample processing, cryopreservation, and other laboratory assays.
• Prepare media, buffers, reagents, and experimental supplies; maintain laboratory inventories.
• Document experimental work, sample inventories, and laboratory activities accurately.
• Maintain a clean, safe laboratory environment and perform routine equipment maintenance.

Required profile

• High school graduation with at least one year of related laboratory experience, or equivalent education/experience.
• Willingness to respect diverse perspectives and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
• Good organizational skills, attention to detail, basic computer proficiency, and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently on routine tasks and collaboratively within a research team.
