Research Assistant / Technician 2 – Pharmacokinetic Modeling

About the role

The Pharmacokinetic Modeling and Simulation (PKMS) laboratory within UBC's Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences seeks a motivated Research Assistant / Technician 2. Working under the guidance of Dr. Anil Maharaj, you will support the development and simulation of physiologically‑based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models aimed at improving drug safety and efficacy for underserved populations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and run PBPK models for central nervous system‑penetrating drugs using PK‑Sim® and MoBi®.
• Assess model outputs, generate graphs and tables, and ensure data integrity.
• Maintain detailed research records and datasets to guarantee reproducibility.
• Assist in preparing scientific manuscripts, figures, and tables for publication.
• Perform additional laboratory and computational tasks as required.

Required profile

• High school graduation with additional training in a related field.
• Minimum two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to work independently while receiving general supervision.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in a research environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with PK‑Sim® software.
• Proficiency with MoBi® software.
• Experience in physiologically‑based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modeling.
• Data analysis and visualization skills.
