About the role
We are looking for an undergraduate research assistant to support an empirical project at the intersection of corporate finance and management. The role involves converting information from university yearbooks into a structured dataset that will be used for econometric analysis.
Key responsibilities
- Scan unbound yearbooks and extract relevant data.
- Enter extracted information into Excel following a predefined coding scheme.
- Perform manual data entry or assist algorithmic coding with thorough manual review.
- Flag ambiguous cases for discussion with the supervisor.
- Maintain high data quality and consistency throughout the project.
Required profile
- Detail‑oriented undergraduate student with strong attention to accuracy.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Authorized to work in Canada and willing to work on the McGill campus in Quebec.
- Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

What we offer
- Hourly wage of $19.02 CAD.
- Part‑time schedule (20 hours per week).
- Training on the coding protocol and potential contract renewal for further analysis work.
