Research Assistant – 3D Printing & Biomaterials

About the role

The Department of Bioresource Engineering at McGill University seeks a Research Assistant to support the 3D printing facility and advance additive manufacturing of biomaterials and waste‑derived materials. This part‑time position will involve hands‑on work with the printer, assisting users, and contributing to material characterization projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain the 3D printing facility for research projects.
• Assist faculty, graduate students, and external users with printer setup and troubleshooting.
• Prepare, print, and evaluate sustainable biomaterial samples.
• Document experimental procedures and results for reporting.
• Support data collection and analysis related to material properties.

Required profile

• Master’s degree (MSc) in engineering, materials science, or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in additive manufacturing of sustainable materials.
• Authorization to work in Canada and willingness to work in Quebec.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
