About the role

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at McGill University seeks a Research Assistant 2 to support the Biomechanics of Movement project under Professor Guillaume Durandau. The role involves contributing to cutting‑edge research on human movement, rehabilitation technologies, wearable robotics, and motion‑capture systems.

Key responsibilities

  • Assist in preparing and submitting grant applications, ethics protocols, and research proposals.
  • Coordinate project timelines, documentation, regulatory compliance, and communication among collaborators.
  • Process, organize, manage, and analyze research data using computational, biomechanical, and statistical tools.
  • Contribute to scientific manuscripts, conference abstracts, technical reports, and presentations.
  • Support development and optimization of research methodologies, software tools, and experimental workflows.
  • Recruit, schedule, screen participants and collect data for clinical and experimental studies.
  • Conduct biomechanical analyses using marker‑based and markerless motion‑capture systems and standardized rehabilitation outcome measures.

Required profile

  • Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of rehabilitation sciences, biomechanics, human‑movement analysis, biomedical engineering, or kinesiology.
  • Experience with motion‑capture technologies, EMG, force plates, and inertial measurement units.
  • Proficiency in data processing and statistical analysis using MATLAB, Python, SPSS, or similar tools.
  • Strong scientific writing and communication experience.
