Registered Practical Nurse – Trauma & Neurosurgery

About the role

The Trauma Neurosurgery Unit at Unity Health Toronto seeks a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care in a fast‑paced inpatient surgical environment. You will work alongside inter‑professional teams caring for patients with neurosurgical and trauma conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Provide holistic, evidence‑based nursing care in accordance with College of Nurses of Ontario standards.
• Establish therapeutic relationships and engage patients and families in care planning.
• Deliver autonomous care for stable patients and collaborate with Registered Nurses for unstable cases.
• Coordinate and communicate patient care activities to optimise outcomes.
• Document assessments, observations and interventions promptly to support inter‑professional communication.
• Participate in continuous learning, reflective practice and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Current registration as a Practical Nurse in Ontario.
• Ability to assess patient needs, develop care plans and adjust interventions based on clinical data.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills within a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to culturally appropriate, patient‑centred care and ethical practice.
