Registered Nurse – Obstetrical Suite

About the role

The Ottawa Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Obstetrical Suite on a temporary basis until approximately August 31, 2026. This position provides direct nursing care to birthing families and newborns within a high‑acuity, teaching‑hospital environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive nursing care to obstetrical patients throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum periods.
• Perform newborn assessments, support initial stabilization, and assist with neonatal resuscitation as needed.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, and allied health professionals to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.
• Participate in patient education, discharge planning, and continuity of care initiatives.
• Contribute to continuous quality improvement, clinical research integration, and evaluation processes.

Required profile

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• At least three months of recent experience in a Birthing Unit.
• Current BCLS and NRP certifications meeting College standards.
• Eligibility to work in Canada.
• Professional attitude, strong teamwork skills, and commitment to ongoing education.

Required skills

• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
