Registered Nurse – Inpatient Medicine (12‑month Temp)

About the role

The In‑Patient Medicine Program at Credit Valley Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for a 12‑month temporary full‑time assignment. You will work 12‑hour day and night shifts on a rotating schedule, including weekends and statutory holidays, providing compassionate, high‑quality care to complex medical patients.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient‑centered nursing care on a busy inpatient medicine unit.
• Administer IV therapy, medications, blood products, and patient‑controlled analgesia.
• Manage enteral feeds, total parenteral nutrition, and central venous access devices (e.g., PICC lines).
• Perform blood glucose monitoring, wound care, infection‑control practices, and respiratory support including oxygen therapy, tracheostomy, and chest tube care.
• Document care accurately and communicate effectively with the interprofessional team.

Required profile

• Graduate of a recognized nursing college and registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or eligible for temporary registration.
• Current Basic Life Support certification; telemetry certification required within six months of hire if assigned to a telemetry area.
• Reliable attendance and performance record.

Required skills

• IV therapy and medication administration.
• Blood product handling and transfusion.
• Patient‑controlled analgesia, enteral feeding, and TPN.
• Central venous access device (PICC) management.
• Blood glucose monitoring, NG‑tube care, wound management.
• Infection control, oxygen therapy, tracheostomy and chest tube care.
• Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, email).
