Registered Nurse – Cardiac Care (Class A) – Saint John

About the role

This full‑time position provides concentrated medical and surgical cardiac nursing care to patients at the NB Heart Center in Saint John. The RN will work within a multidisciplinary team, applying the nursing process to deliver safe, evidence‑based care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver basic nursing care (hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, elimination) with efficiency and compassion.
• Perform advanced patient assessments and adjust care plans as conditions evolve throughout the shift.
• Apply specialized cardiac knowledge to support surgical and interventional procedures.
• Act as team member, charge nurse, or leader as needed, coordinating with physicians, surgeons, patients, and families.
• Document care using the DARP focus‑charting model and maintain confidentiality per Horizon policies.

Required profile

• Current registration with the College of Nursing of New Brunswick, renewed annually.
• Minimum 1 year ICU/CCU experience, or 1 year cardiac surgery/cardiology/intervention experience, or 3 years medical/surgical nursing.
• Demonstrated competence in the nursing process, cardiac anatomy & physiology, ECG interpretation, and titrated IV cardio‑active drug administration.
• Valid IV therapy, phlebotomy, defibrillation, BCLS and ACLS certifications.
• Ability to work shift schedules, adapt to change, and maintain a strong work record.
