Receptionist for Team-Based Care Teaching Clinic

About the role

The receptionist is the first point of contact for patients and caregivers at the Gateway Team-Based Care Teaching Clinic, ensuring a warm, welcoming and safe environment while supporting clinic operations.

Key responsibilities

• Greet patients, manage appointments and verify health insurance status using the electronic health record and patient portal.
• Handle clinic correspondence, manage schedules, process referrals and coordinate diagnostic reports.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information, respond to inquiries respectfully and resolve conflicts when needed.
• Process billing inquiries, receive payments, and assist the Clinic Manager with financial record‑keeping.

Required profile

• High school graduation with at least two years of related medical office experience.
• Ability to work independently, exercise professional judgment and handle high‑volume periods with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion and cultural humility.

Required skills

• Proficiency with electronic health record systems and patient portal platforms.
• Experience using online registration systems for appointment booking.
