Project Manager - Space & Defense Programs

About the role

ABB Measurement and Analytics designs, manufactures and markets near- and mid-infrared analytical systems and remote sensing instruments for the aerospace industry. This Project Manager position covers complex contractual projects involving the development and delivery of space instruments and payloads, overseeing commercial, contractual, financial and operational aspects from proposal through delivery and closeout. The role may involve leading several projects at once.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for customers and partners
• Take part in proposal preparation and analysis of contractual and technical requirements
• Develop and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules, resource plans and delivery strategies
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate priorities with functional managers
• Plan and coordinate internal program reviews and project milestones
• Manage risks, opportunities, scope, changes and priorities, and monitor financial performance and critical paths
• Implement recovery plans when needed and manage suppliers, subcontractors and external partners
• Ensure compliance with contractual, quality, security and export control requirements
• Ensure delivery and acceptance of products, software, documentation and test results
• Prepare and negotiate change requests and contract amendments, and handle contractual and financial closeout

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, science or a related field
• 5 to 7 years of experience managing complex or contractual projects
• Experience in space, aerospace, defense or high-technology sectors strongly preferred
• Experience managing budgets, schedules, contractual deliverables and customer relationships
• Ability to obtain the security clearance required under the Controlled Goods Program
• Availability for occasional travel

Required skills

• Demonstrated leadership of multidisciplinary teams and strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management
• Strong planning, financial management and risk management skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment
• Good understanding of commercial and contractual matters, including contract management
• Bilingual proficiency in French and English, written and spoken
• PMP certification or an equivalent qualification preferred
