Project Management Consultant
Matrix_Professional_Staffing_Solutions_Inc.
Job description
About the role
Matrix, a boutique consulting and professional services firm, offers project management consulting to law firms, government-related organizations, professional practices and businesses. This is an independent-contractor, project-based engagement, not an employment position, with remote or hybrid work and occasional client-site assignments. The consultant leads or supports end-to-end project delivery, from planning and coordination to reporting and close-out.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver projects: develop plans, schedules, milestones and deliverables, set up project structures and workflows, monitor progress and mitigate risks and delays.
- Coordinate stakeholders: run meetings, keep stakeholders informed, document decisions and escalate matters needing client or Matrix direction.
- Control and report: maintain schedules, trackers and status documentation, prepare status reports and support quality control and deliverable reviews.
- Budget and resources: assist with budgeting and resource planning and monitoring where included in the Work Order, but contractors do not approve budgets or commitments.
- Process improvement: identify workflow improvements, support redesign and implementation, and support transition and post-project activities.
- Support scoping and planning: gather requirements, help define scope and feasibility, and contribute to proposals and statements of work.
- Specialized projects: depending on experience and the Work Order, support transformation, digital transformation, technology implementation, compliance, legal-sector or public-sector projects.
Required profile
- 5+ years of project-management, consulting, professional-services or operational project experience.
- Demonstrated experience independently managing projects or significant project workstreams.
- Ability to work independently, handle confidential information with discretion, and travel to client sites when required.
- Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Required skills
- Project management methodologies such as Agile, Waterfall, Scrum, Kanban, Lean, PRINCE2 or similar (an asset).
- Tools such as Microsoft 365, Microsoft Project, Excel, Asana, Trello, Monday.com, Slack, Zoom or cloud document management (an asset).
