Project Forester

About the role

Cabinforestry is looking for a Project Forester to lead its forest planning and operations business lines. The role blends project management with hands‑on mentoring, ensuring timely delivery of deliverables while growing a skilled team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage forest planning and operations projects, developing schedules, budgets, safety plans and resource allocations.
• Mentor office and field crews, providing guidance to new hires and senior technicians on complex ground work.
• Oversee multiphase layout, engineering, wildfire planning and operational supervision projects.
• Support new business development and expansion of existing lines, bringing an entrepreneurial mindset.
• Build and nurture relationships with Indigenous governments and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Registered Professional Forester (RPF) with 5‑10 years of forestry experience in BC.
• Proven track record managing medium to large forest‑engineering contracts and leading small teams (≈10 people).
• Experience in timber planning, road construction/maintenance, harvest supervision and tenure management.
• Demonstrated commitment to reconciliation, equity, inclusion and sustainable forest resource management.
• Project management certification (PMP) is a plus.
