Primary Health Care Nurse In Charge

About the role

The Primary Health Care Nurse‑in‑Charge provides comprehensive primary and emergency health services to individuals and families in Ross River, Yukon. Working on a 5‑week on/5‑week off rotation, the nurse leads the health centre while delivering culturally competent care in a remote setting.

Key responsibilities

• Administer daily activities and supervise health‑centre staff.
• Provide direct primary health care and emergency treatment.
• Plan, develop, implement and evaluate public‑health programs, education and promotion activities.
• Balance administrative duties with direct patient care during regular clinic hours and on‑call emergency rotations.
• Collaborate with clients, health professionals, agencies and the community to ensure optimal service delivery.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge and skills in patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment.
• Ability to work independently where physician, laboratory, X‑ray and pharmacy services are limited.
• Cultural competence and effective communication with diverse community members.
• Leadership experience in supervising staff and managing a health‑centre operation.
